Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort Review: Affordable Family Fun and Sports-Themed Excitement

Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort is a value category hotel at Walt Disney World Resort that offers a vivid and active atmosphere, especially appealing to sports fans and families. With its larger-than-life sports-themed decor, this resort immerses guests in an exciting and spirited environment right from the moment they arrive.

The resort itself is a collection of ten separate buildings with five different themes. Buildings 1 and 6 are Surfs Up!  Buildings 2 and 3 are Hoops Hotel, 4 and 5 are Center Court, 7 and 10 are Touchdown! 8 and 9 are the Homerun Hotel.

We checked in for one night in a standard room on 6/25/2024 in room 8308.

Check In

Disney’s check in process can all be done ahead of time. Once you book the vacation you can go onto their website and enter in all necessary information to complete the online check in.  Once you arrive at the resort there really is no reason to go to the front desk. They will text you the room number when your room is ready.

The front desk is still an option if you don’t have MagicBands (MagicBands are your door key at Disney World Resorts), or you get there early. We arrived around 7am, so I approached the desk to see if they had a room available at that time. They did not, but a few hours later I got a text that our room was ready.

The check in process is smooth provided you fill everything out online ahead of arrival.  I’ve never seen a line at the front desk either. I’ve always been able to walk right up and talk to someone.  Compared to some resorts in Las Vegas who have extremely long check in lines, this check in process is a breeze.

Check in gets a 5/5. (This is my same review from Wilderness Lodge. It’s the exact same check in process at all Disney World Resorts)

Rooms

We Stayed in Room 8308 which is a standard room. All the rooms here went through a refurbishment a few years back.  When you walk in you will see only one bed in the room. The other bed is a murphy bed that pulls down, and when the murphy bed is up there is a desk and two chairs.  The rooms are on the smaller side, especially when you pull down the murphy bed.

As you walk past the bed,you enter the bathroom area. The bathroom area can be closed off from the rest of the room by a sliding barn door.  There is a sink and counter space outside of the actual bathroom.  There was plenty of space for the two of us, but I can’t see four people storing their toiletries here.

The actual “bathroom” has a toilet and a shower tub combination with a sliding door. Inside the shower you will find Disney’s line of body wash, shampoo, and conditioner.  I personally love their line of shower products and its nice that they are the same from the deluxe resorts all the way down to the value resorts.

Sleeping four people in this room for any length of time might be a bit difficult. Its close quarters, but if its just two people the rooms will be just fine. The beds are comfortable and the rooms have the Disney touches you are looking for.

Amenities

Pools – There are two pools at All Star Sports. The Surfs Up Pool and the Home Run Pool.   Both pools are themed exactly as they sound. The Surfs up pool is main resort pool and Home Run Pool is an auxiliary pool at the back of the resort.  I’ve had great times at both pools, but I prefer the Home Run Pool as it can be a bit quieter.

Gym – None

Wi-Fi – Standard Disney resort Wi-Fi.  Not the fastest internet, but its useable to get some work done if you need to.

Onsite Dining

The only dining onsite is the End Zone Food Court.  The food court offers standard Disney quick service food from breakfast until late. We got back from Epcot around 10:30pm and they were still serving food.  I have no issues with the food here if you know what you are getting into with Disney quick service food.

Service

The service from the front desk during our one-night stay came with a little Disney magic. I had shipped a Magicband from the Disney store online to the resort.  The package had not made it to resort yet, but it would be there sometime that day.  I also forgot all the Magicbands at home and when I told the cast member at the front desk, she called over the manager.  I told my story to the manager and without hesitation she grabbed a coupon book and wrote a coupon for us to get a new Magicband from any store on property.  This was the type of service that Disney was known for and I was pleasantly surprised to see it back.

Overall

Disney’s All-Star Sports scores a 13/20

I have no issues staying at Disney’s All-Star Sports if its just Heidi and me. The more I stay there the more I like it.  I would not stay here with more than two people in one room, but for the prices they offer, you could almost get two rooms for the same price or less than some moderate hotels.  Its nothing fancy and it doesn’t claim to be.  If you just need a bed to sleep in at night after being in the parks all day, I think it’s a great value option.
