An In-Depth Review of Disney’s Copper Creek Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge itself is inspired by the grand national park lodges of the early 20th century, such as the Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone National Park. The resort’s design and architecture pay homage to America’s natural beauty and pioneering spirit, with an emphasis on natural materials and indigenous motifs.
The hotel is separated into three parts Wilderness Lodge Hotel, Copper Creek Villas and Cabins, and Boulder Ridge Villas. If you are standing in the main lobby of the hotel looking out at the pool, the hotel is everything to the left. Copper Creek Villas are everything to the right. The Copper Creek Cabins skirt the waters edge. Boulder Ridge is a completely different building maybe a 30 second walk from The main lobby of Wilderness Lodge.
For this review, we will be looking at a 1-Bedroom Villa at Copper Creek. Our check in date was 5/28/2024 and the room were assigned was 4125
1. Check In
Disney’s check in process can all be done ahead of time. Once you book the vacation you can go onto their website and enter in all necessary information to complete the online check in. Once you arrive at the resort there really is no reason to go to the front desk. They will text you the room number when your room is ready.
The front desk is still an option if you don’t have MagicBands (MagicBands are your door key at Disney World Resorts), or you get there early. We arrived around 7am, so I approached the desk to see if they had a room available at that time. They did not, but a few hours later I got a text that our room was ready.
The check in process is smooth provided you fill everything out online ahead of arrival. I’ve never seen a line at the front desk either. I’ve always been able to walk right up and talk to someone. Compared to some resorts in Las Vegas who have extremely long check in lines, this check in process is a breeze. Check in gets a 5/5.
2. Rooms
We stayed in room 4125 which is a 1-Bedroom Villa in the Copper Creek part of the hotel. Copper Creek is their Disney Vacation Club side. It’s basically a Disney timeshare if you don’t know what it is. When you enter the villa you enter into a galley kitchen that opens up into the main living area. The kitchen includes stainless steel appliances including, refrigerator, microwave, oven, stove, and dishwasher. There is a coffee maker but it’s the coffee pot style not a k-cup maker.
The living space has a large queen size sleeper sofa that is comfortable for being a pull out. There is also a large dinning area to fit more than four people around comfortably. There is ample storage in the living area as it has a dresser under the tv with multiple drawers and a movable coffee table that has storage on the inside.
The bathroom features a deep soaking tub and a separate walk-in shower. The walk-in shower and soaking tub can are separated by a pocket door, so you essentially have two bathrooms, but only one toilet. Both the walk-in shower and soaking tub have separate vanities so multiple people can get ready at the same time. There is also ample storage space across the bathrooms with the multiple vanities.
The bedroom can provide some privacy as it has its own door that is lockable should you need to lock the door. Inside you will find a king size bed with soft comfortable sheets and plush pillows. There is ample storage under the bed where we put our luggage once we unpack. A second flat screen TV allows for watching your own programing and not what the kids want to watch. I did have an issue connecting my phone to the TV, but it wasn’t that big of an deal.
Overall, the rooms are very nice and modern, and it provides enough space for four people. There was some minor wear and tear in the room, which is to be expected for how much the rooms are used. We stayed for a week and the room began to feel like home. If it wasn’t for the minor wear and tear, the room wouldn’t have lost a mark, but since there was it gets a 4/5.

3. Amenities
Pools – Without a doubt the best amenities at Wilderness Lodge are the pools. There are two pools the Copper Creek Pool and the Boulder Ridge Pool. Both pools are among my favorites on property. Since we usually stay at Copper Creek, we mainly utilize the Copper Creek pool. The Boulder Ridge pool has some “cabanas” that are free and are first come first served. Both pools provide ample seating with a mix of lounge chairs and tables with chairs. Boulder Ridge pool also has a zero entry which is perfect to little kids.
Gym– There is a gym, Sturdy Branches Health Club, is in the Boulder Ridge building. The gym is open 24 hours a day and includes treadmills, ellipticals and free weights. Its nothing special, but if you need a gym there is one. https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/spas/wilderness-lodge-resort/sturdy-branches-health-club/
Wi-Fi – The Wi-Fi is useable but it’s not the fastest internet I have ever used. I was able to get a little work done with no issues at all.
Lobby – I’m including this as an amenity because it is one of the most stunning lobbies I have ever been in. Words and pictures don’t do it the justice it deserves you really have to see it for yourself.
The pools and lobby alone are worth a 5/5

4. On-Site Dining
Geyser Point Bar and Grill – This might be the best bar on all of Disney Property. Geyer Point is an open-air bar and grill on the shores of Bay Lake. The food we had here was above average except for the chicken wings. They are know for their Bison Burger and I can confirm its delicious. It might be the best burger on property.

Whispering Canyon Café – Located in the lobby of Wilderness Lodge, this restaurant offers a unique dining experience that combines hearty fare with a playful, interactive atmosphere. Whispering Canyon is known for their all you care to enjoy skillet and bottomless milkshakes. The food we had here was ok nothing spectacular, but it fits the bill if you are hungry.

Roaring Fork – Quick service restaurant located on the bottom level of Wilderness Lodge by the exit to the pool. The food here is standard Disney quick service you would expect.
Artist Point – This was the signature dining restaurant that was converted to Storybook Dining with Snow White. I personally have never dined here but have heard decent things about it. What keeps me away is the price.
Geyser Point is the best restaurant on property while all the others that I have dined at are just ok. For that reason, dining at Wilderness Lodge gets a 3/5.
5. Service
Every interaction I had with a cast member at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge was a positive one. I had multiple interactions with the bell hops as they stored our luggage when we transferred over from Fort Wilderness. I also had several packages and groceries delivered to the resort. All were delivered to the room in a timely manner. The front desk service was quick and painless. At one point our MagicBands stopped working and we stopped by the front desk, and they resolved the issue in less than three minutes.
Disney used to be known for their excellent customer service, while that may have diminished in other areas around the Walt Disney World, I see no evidence of that at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Service gets a 5/5.
Overall, the Wilderness Lodge scores a 17/20
